Sunday Poem By Jhilam Adhikary

Paradise Regained

The clock is ticking Just a few hours more, Then I’ll open my eyes And I’ll be on your shore, I’m the same as when I left Just a bit more chubby than before And since I cried so much for you, My eyes are slightly sore. The sparrows of your garden, The warmth of your lights, Your sudden sparks of colour, Your radiance at nights; Every star of my world In your every inch installed, I'll see you again And I'll smile like a moron. You crown, your walls, Your rooms, your halls, Your double doors, Your white floors, Your auditorium, your theatre, I'll pose in your washroom mirror And click the most pictures. I will walk past all My personal paradise: The palace I recalled Every minute when I was alone. I'll lose myself in you, Like a good ghost should, The small trees, the grass Adam and Eve would be so jealous. A Paradise created By Nymphs and Gods The better Gods, my own Gods And their lover's touch, Which has returned just for this After forsaking me since birth. Tall and fat and beautiful, Loud and proud and hopeful, And I'll be like you, When inside you And a part of you When close to your heart; And my heart will break A hundred times again, When once again I'll remember Happiness can't be permanent And I can't be here forever… Breathing your air, I'll walk out someday Breathing your air, I'll grow up, But breathing your air I’ll come back again, For you have made me ambitious Not all hope is lost; Paradise regained once Can be regained again too, You are my only kingdom And I’ll fight the most for you.
