‘For the third…’ hissed the Serpent, ‘..time I assssk, what did you decide?’
‘He is brave,’ the Dove cooed, ‘My love for him will stretch far and wide.’
‘Fool!’ the Serpent spat, ‘You will drown in your own fantasy.’
‘I won’t,’ The Dove replied, ‘For I will float on ecstasy.’
‘Your happinesss…..disgussts me…..’ whooshed the Serpent.
‘I know’, the Dove said humbly, ‘but for my decision I won’t repent.’
‘You!’ The Serpent shook her head, ‘are an idiot of a friend.’
‘Our friendship’, the Dove added, “if it shames you, then let it end.’
The Serpent cried: ‘Fool! You dare sssspeak againsst me!’
‘You can bid us well,’ the Dove cooed, ‘when me and my love will flee.’
‘Go away then!’ the Serpent cried, “Out of my sight!”
‘Farewell’, said the Dove, ‘I will leave, I do not wish this to end in a fight.’
And then she took flight, and turned to leave.
‘In love’, the Serpent cried and hissed, ‘you may believe…..’
The Dove flew away, and the Serpent spat in vain,
“But…………One does not need love when hatred can reign.”
