Sunday Poem By Mahfuz Al-Hossian

UNSHAVEN

Snowy unshaven face of mine
reminds those bygone rainy dusks
of joyous Jaistha*
When we two were almost soaked like
piece of loaf amid heavy downpours
Desparately engaged in picking up
dropping down storm-struck
maimed mangoes
on the Icelandic ground of Garchapra
fully carpeted with ping-pong snow-sleets.
Would you mind if I miss your chromatic kiss today
due to my untrimmed bushy cheeks?
* Jaistha, the second month of Bangla calendar with abundance of seasonal fruits namely mango, jackfruit, lichi, etc.
