Sunday Reflection By Mahfuz Al-Hossain

KAMINIPUR

Interestingly – She calls it kaminipur- the surreal scented part of the old Dhaka city;
But the imbecile Google map is unable to track it down geographically by name ;
And in her rented single studio suite of this insomniac budding poet -you’ll be able to find out a cozy cushioned comfy bed on the floor for her evershrinking priceless sleep ;
The bed is not decorated with Basrai petals of pinkish poking rose or lackluster lilacs of TS Eliot but with two comfortable palliative pillows and few stuff toys along with Russian lovely dolls -those are always craving for laps and lullabies silently;
By the side of the bed -a diagonally designed dragonfly bookshelf fully loaded with Humayun Ahmed novels- Jibananda poems – Shaluk –And thereby a big plantpot having fragrance -emitting droplets of orange jasmines throughout the night justifying the floral nomenclature astoundingly ;
Few coloured photographs of this newly inned tennant – an adventurous lady biker who is a formerly crowned beauty pageant are attached mechanically on the brick wall -prestigious trophy won in that cosmopolitan competition got its moderate space on the top of the proud bookshelf;
Sorry for not mentioning about her classy careless live jasmine roommate juxtaposed jovially with joyous gelato smile –always hiding beneath her sister’s shadows amid torrential downpour or threatening thunderstorms …
