Sunday Poem By Dattatreya Datta

Green Love

I was taking shower, drenching under water,
Water flowing gently on my face
And I stretched my hands, unfolded my palms to feel –
Water was rolling down making my body excite
It had arisen a cold sensation in my anatomy,
I was nodding my head in delight.
Beside me a masculine figure was standing whose presence was only cause for my depression,
He was laughing at my craziness which filled me with irritation
Moreover, his long multiple hands had been guarding most of the rain and light
I screamed in madness and wanted a fight,
He remained cold claiming, only for my protection!
I felt disgusting, my green, soft creeper wants more water to enjoy.
Wind became stronger
I was struggling hard to stick toward the ground, using my full efforts
Closed my eyes in fear,
Suddenly I received a help, a strong body to hold
I clutched him tightly,
Wind stopped, Rain stopped, Sun was peeping in sky brightly
Slowly I opened my eyes
Astound, I discovered that I was clutching that mango tree.
After that I never dared to loose my hands further
We fell in love
Spending all the seasons together.
He protected me as a shield from the scorching beam of sun in summer noon
We knew rain would appear soon.
We used to laugh in rain together, nothing could make us bother,
The water was rolling across his body and slowly touched my body made it warm,
I became passionate and wanted to intimate,
Nature prohibited that for us, we wanted to break all barriers.
The chilling breeze blew in winter
Made my body numb and I hugged him tighter to make me warmer.
In spring we used to compete who could reach higher,
I knew I would never be able to reach that high but still there was no sign for regret.
I decorate his body with my body,
When I bear with flower, his excitement raised higher.
One day the master of the land, the master of my love appeared which made my love feared
Gazing at me in disgust he said – bloody creeper tree! its time to let my tree free.
He started pulling my hairs, my head, my sickly hands, we both tried hard to stick
But something we couldn’t fix.
Suddenly I heard a sound and I felt my body becoming senseless,
My hands were torn apart from my body, my roots were uprooted
I saw him crying, shaking his big head.
Before closing my eyes, I noticed my bleeding hands remained still clutching his body,
You lost master
I won, we won, our love won.
